Pagaliau prieš keletą dienų iš spaustuvės atvežė LT priklausančią žinyno 300 Baltic Writers tiražo dalį (LLTI jau galima nusipirkt). Ir prisiminiau bene įdomiausią radinį, kai visur šniukštinėjau, kas iš 100 atrinktųjų mūsų autorių kūrinių išversta į kitas kalbas. Juozo Apučio novelė „Erčia, kur gaivus vanduo“ atsidūrusi JAV išleistoj mokykloms skirtoj daugiakultūrėj antologijoj: Coming of Age Around the World: A Multicultural Anthology, edited by Faith Adiele and Mary Frosch, New York: New Press, 2007, 300 pp.

„Erčia, kur gaivus vanduo“ pirmąkart išspausdinta rinkiny Horizonte bėga šernai (1970). Koks šio kūrinio kelias iki minimos antologijos? Aišku, reiktų el. paštu paklaust sudarytojų, ir atsakymas būtų aiškus. Nesiryšiu to daryt, tad mėginu spėt.
Kad būtų išsamesnis vaizdas, kas nors toj antologijoj turėjo atsirast ir iš postsovietinės erdvės. Gal vienai iš sudarytojų į galvą atėjo žodis „Baltic“. Ieškant bibliotekų el. kataloguose, galėjo sistema pasiūlyt šitą knygą: The Glade With Life-Giving Water: Stories From the Soviet Baltic Republics, comp. by Vera Ruber, Laima Vinonen and Bella Zalesskaya (Moscow: Progress, 1981). Antologija pavadinta pagal Apučio novelę; tema tinkama: jaunuolės išėjimas iš namų, branda, ryšys su gimine, vaikystės erdve; teksto ilgis irgi tinkamas. „Imam“, nusprendė Faith Adiele ir Mary Frosch. Aišku, tai tik spėjimas, gal visai kitaip buvo.
Ši Apučio novelė, jei neklystu, įtraukta į mūsų mokyklines programas, bent jau jos ištrauką tenka moksleiviams interpretuot (sprendžiu iš šperų.lt). O kaip ją interpretuoja JAV moksleiviai? Ar pasitelkia pirmąjį novelės sakinį („Iš pat ryto visi buvo liūdnai ramūs“) kaip suvokimo raktą? Ar yra šperų.lt angliškas atitikmuo? Greičiausiai – ne? Gana svarstyt. Užfiksavau, ir tiek.
